Jah Wobble's 'Live At Leuven' is now available for purchase via 30 Hertz. The album was previously released as an exclusive Emusic download. The disc was recorded in Belgium on the Ode to Joy Tour along with Philip Jeck and Jaki Liebezeit.

Jah Wobble's 'Car Ad Music' will be available via 30 Hertz in the near future.

I'd also like to point out the sad death of Dianne Faber who ran the Jah Wobble fan site we mentioned a while back. The site is still available at the moment, and there is a guest book where anybody can leave their condolences.

13th October 2004

Jah Wobble will be appearing on the 'Tom Robinson - Evening Sequence' on BBC 6 Music tonight, Wednesday, 13th October, 7.00-9.30pm (UK). You can hear it via DAB Digital Radio or live online at: www.bbc.co.uk/6music. It will also be archived for a week on the shows' 6 Music web page.

It seems 6 Music is probably the closest thing to a PiL-Friendly radio station you can get in the UK, as well as the recent interviews with Keith and Wobble, in the last few days I've heard both 'Public Image' & 'Love Song'. Which is far more than I've heard in years on British radio… About poxy time!

There's another good interview on BBC London with Robert Elms which you can also listen to on-line.

John Lydon: Sex Pistols, PiL & Anti-Celebrity' an unauthorised biography of John Lydon by music journalist Ben Myers has just been published in the UK, by Independent Music Press (208 pages, RRP £12.99). Apparently the book covers John's life and career from after the Pistols split in 1978 right up to the present day, and features a new interview with Keith Levene (which is handy for a book all about John…). See PlayLouder.Com for more info. I'm saying nothing till I see a copy…

I keep forgetting to mention this (I wonder why)… a new album of French Cocktail Jazz takes on post-punk tracks features a version of 'This is Not a Love Song'. 'Nouvelle Vague' was released on Peacefrog (PFG051CD) back in August. Rumour has it it's pretty good. Here's the full info via Amazon…

Nouvelle Vague is a French electronica project initialised by multi-instrumentalists and producers Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux. Marc first came to recognition with his band Ollano, known for their Francophone trip-hop / jazz-fusion and his movie soundtracks such as "the kidnapper's theme". He soon moved into the realm of club music, initially recording for the UK's own Paper Recordings and progressing into a more creative and eclectic producer under the guises Avril on FCom, and Volga Select on Output Records. Olivier Libaux has been involved with many French pop acts during the nineties and started working with Marc in 1998.
Nouvelle Vague which translates to "new wave" in English, and bossa nova in Portuguese, revisits a number of both Marc and Olivier's favourite tracks from the early eighties, taking in bands such as The Clash, Joy Division, and the Cure in a stunning combination of bossa nova, jazz and sixties.

1. Love Will Tear Us Apart / 2. I Just Cant Get Enough / 3. In A Manner of Speaking / 4. Guns of Brixton / 5. (This Is Not) A Love Song / 6. Too Drunk to Fuck / 7. Marianne / 8. Making Plans for Nigel / 9. A Forest / 10. Psyche / 11. Teenage Kicks / 12. I Melt With You / 13. Friday Night, Saturday Morning

Jah Wobble has another new exclusive download over at Emusic, ironically entitled 'Car Ad Music'. More info as we get it, but we're pretty sure its far from Car Ad music (unless of course it's for a Japanese car!). …
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you haven't signed up to Emusic you really need to. Pay some respect…

21st September 2004

Keith Levene will be appearing on 'The Music Week' on BBC 6 Music this Friday (24th) at 19.00. You can hear it via DAB Digital Radio or online at: www.bbc.co.uk/6music/. The show is repeated on Saturday 09.00 and will also be archived for a week on the shows' 6 Music web page. During the show, they have a feature entitled "The Great Debate", this week's topic will be "Is punk dead or has it been reborn?"

'I Could Have Been a Contender' is now available in the shops, and has been picking up some good press coverage, including a Wobble interview on the Jonathan Ross Radio Show on BBC Radio 2 last Saturday (21st August). There was also a great quote from Wobble in an article from The Independent about Wessex Studios being turned into flats: "We got barred after about five days because there was a punch-up in the pub with people from the studio, it's just another studio as far as I'm concerned, and it was a rip-off."

Read the Fodderstompf review here!

Wobble will be playing some gigs around the release of the album. However, contrary to reports from Trojan's PR machine, he will NOT be playing "PiL classics". Silly boys…

The MurderGlobal 'Killer in the Crowd' EP is released this Tuesday, 8th June, via Martin Atkins Underground Inc. Although featuring the same tracks as the earlier low key release this limited edition EP has been newly mixed by Levene, and also features the video for 'Killer in the Crowd'. If you missed out on the last release - and even if you didn't - this EP is must have, and marks the return of Keith Levene. Back with a bang...

June 2004
For Immediate Release:

Keith Levene Killer in the Crowd/MURDER GLOBAL EP released by Underground Inc.
Underground Inc. announced a June 8, 2004 release date for Keith Levenes Killer in the Crowd/MURDER GLOBAL EP. A special, limited edition of the EP includes five freshly-mixed tunes plus the Killer in the Crowd video; a first-class package produced by Levene. The EP contains a variety of killer tunes which showcase Levenes multifaceted talent and ability to move from dub to dance to hard-driving rock with expertise. Longtime PiL fans will recognize the creative energy that continues to inspire and influence artists today. Keith is known for his innovative guitar stylings and production techniques; this is music that illustrates the development of his musicianship and production skills.
It?s just straightforward Keith guitar on Killer. I?m playing a 1956 Epiphone Les Paul, not going through any effects. People don?t exploit their guitar enough - they?re too busy piling pods and effects on it. -Keith speaking recently with Jenny Knight of Guitar magazine.
After his decade of public silence, this record is like a force 5 hurricane blasting through the blancmange of what's currently passing for music- Shelly da Cunha, journalist
...one our foremost guitar players, and one of the most creative sound and production innovators of the so-called punk movement- Kevin Henderson, musician/producer
All tunes are fresh and definitely now- Scott M, fodderstompf.com

Keith has been busy with a number of projects, including video production, performing, producing, playing guitar and bass; recently in a soundclash with techno artist The Bug, Adrian Sherwood and the Asian Dub Foundation at the Royal Festival Hall in London. While gearing up to pursue his interest in writing for film & tv soundtracks, he?s working with a number of UK and US artists, all under the Murder Global umbrella.
States Levene- categories and labels are just so limiting to an artist, so with Murder Global, I'm trying to go beyond all that.
Levene has been featured in MOJO January 2004 PiL, Guitar Player March 2004 Post-punk Guitar, BBC radio interviews, several ezines including May 2004 Looking for Something interview at 3ammagazine.com and in Guitar magazine June 2004 issue. Limited edition copies are available for review. Please contact me to set up an interview with Keith.

Keith Levene 3am Magazine interview. Keith is interviewed by Greg Whitfiled for the on-line 3am Magazine where he talks openly about his life, growing up, his influences, his interests, and most importantly, music, music and MUSIC!
