Three
excellent Press Archives
added:
Two
interviews/articles from PiL's triumphant
performance in Estonia 1988:
Sounds,
September 17th 1988 - PiL interview
& Estonia review
("The show is a blinder.
Every single band member, including
John Lydon, reckon it was their
finest hour.")
Melody
Maker, September 24th 1988 -
Lydon & McGeoch interview
(This interview is from a two
part feature. We're pretty sure
it's incomplete, so if anyone has
the whole article – or
part one – please get
in touch…)
Plus…
ZigZag,
December 1979 - Lydon &
Levene interview, plus 'Metal Box'
review.
(This is the infamous 18 hour
session with Kris Needs… And
probably one of the best 'Metal
Box' era interviews.) |

We've
also been plundering the old publicimage.co.uk/20megs
website for some other
press archives. There was so much
good stuff on there it seemed a
shame to waste it, and it's only
a matter of time before it completely
disappears. We tried the email address
we had for them but it was bounced
back. So, guys, if you're still
out there: get in touch! Big
thanks, plus we need to
know who to credit the transcripts
to. |

In
early 2006 reports surfaced of a
collection of completely unreleased
PiL studio and live tracks
(circa 1982/83), which had appeared
on a bootleg MP3
download site.
The
material was apparently taken from
a set of three 10" reel-to-reel
tapes. However, initial reports
were sketchy at best. Various Fodderstompf
readers sent us details of the recordings,
and we have now reviewed (and sourced)
the tracks as best we can. If you
think you can add something get
in touch…
Part
1 of the review centres
on 'Commercial
Zone' demos, and other studio outtakes.
Part 2 features a 1983
tour rehearsal / soundcheck.

John
Roy - A Love Song added to
the Cover
Version Discography. We weren't
really sure whether to include this
as a cover version or a sample, as
it's a bit of both… It samples
John's chorus, and keeps some of the
original keyboards, but is basically
a complete musical re-working, and
also includes a new female vocal,
"I'm not a kid no more, I
don't care about your love song…"
Pretty good.
