A review of 'Fly', the new Jah Wobble solo album has been added to the Review section. The review, by Patrick MacArdle, was originally published on his Jah Wobble Discussion List, but Patrick has kindly let us re-print it. Over the next few months we hope to add a Discussion List "archive" on Fodderstompf, featuring a 'best of' from the topics and info discussed by 'The List', including some by the man Wobble himself, and his loyal bus driver Reg...

Cleveland 1980Major 1980 US Tour Update!

It turns out PiL played a previously unknown gig at Cleveland, Agora Theater, 30th April. The Oakland, 6th May gig was cancelled, and the correct date and venue for San Francisco is South of Market Cultural Center, 10th May, not Berkeley, Greek Theatre... The confusion over the Californian gigs was caused by a mixture of Warners Brothers, the tour agents they hired, Premier Talent, and well known promoter Bill Graham, all trying to wreck a 2 date Californian deal "hand-shaken" by PiL and local promoters C D Presents. A full article, by Shoshana Wecheler, on all the legal shenanigans was featured in the 1980 US 'Damage' fanzine. Click here for a full transcript.

BIG Thanks to Dino Everett for his help!

See the PiL Gig List for full updated tour dates, the 1980 Chronology has also been revamped with the new information. Incidentally, there was a feature in Billboard Magazine, 15th March, listing a 10 date PiL tour, we'd be very interested in seeing a copy if anybody has one...

Also added is a gig review from the opening night of the tour at Boston, Orpheum 18.4.80

Keith and Louie!

This rare picture of PiL 1983, from a Japanese magazine previewing the Japanese tour, sheds new light on the hiring of the 'Cabaret Band'. It now appears Louie Bernardi was actually hired while Levene was still in the band, and would have played bass on the proposed Japanese tour along with Lydon, Levene & Atkins.
Thanks to Dino Everett

Set list corrected, and additional info added to the Paris 78, Bootleg LP review, Gig Review & Audio Bootleg review

Members ONLY! The fakes won’t survive...

From now on the whole message board will be MEMBERS ONLY. Over the past few weeks there has been a growing amount of abuse on the board, and basically enough is enough...
We at Fodderstompf are easy going guys, we like a piss-take and wind up as much as the next person, probably more. But unfortunately there are too many people out there, willing to take advantage of our good nature.
Posting as band members has to stop, yes, occasionally members post here, but keep up this childish rubbish and they won’t. We’ll be lucky to have a site at all.
It wouldn’t be so bad if people would use their real names and e-mail addresses, but of course it’s more fun and cowardly to hide behind an alias. We’re here, we put our name to everything we do, we hide from no one...
As we all know this message board is hardly the busiest board in the world, and making it member only won’t exactly help, but it seems a necessary step. Quality over quantity. At least this way we can control the board a bit easier. There are some good people out there with interesting posts, and I can only apologise to them for lumping them in with the plebs. PiL are probably the most misunderstood and underrated band in the last 20 years, they need a voice on the internet, that’s the whole point of Fodderstompf. Don’t ruin it.

“Now you’re understanding, don’t be vegetating...”

As promised the Memorabilia section has been substantially expanded. Among the new Thumbnail based picture galleries are promo posters, gig posters, gig tickets, rare records, badges, books, magazines, T-shirts, flyers, plus much more. Some sections are more detailed than others. However, from now on the sections will be constantly updated, keep checking back...

Incidentally, if anyone sent in images for the rarities gallery (including gig tickets etc) and are unaccredited. Sorry, we've lost a note of your name. Get in touch and we will credit you properly...

Look out for more site updates over the next few days...

2 of the most neglected sections on the site have now been revamped, Rarities & Audio / Video Bootleg Guide.
The next week or so will see the Rarities section be expanded with a substantial amount of new entries. The section will now be a Thumbnail based picture gallery, featuring additional info and pix. Watch this space....

Audio / Video Bootleg Guide has also been tweaked, all entries will now feature much more relevant info for tape traders. HOWEVER, we are still very short on contributions, we need YOUR help! It doesn't have to be anything spectacular, just a note of the running order, running time, sound quality, along with any notes on the recording, or thoughts on the gig. See the Audio / Video Bootleg Guide section for examples...

THANKS to TIM McALLISTER for the following 2 reviews! That's how you do it... !

DETROIT, MOTOR CITY ROLLER RINK, USA 24.4.80
CHICAGO, GRANADA THEATER, USA 10.10.82

Speaking of neglected pages...

PLEASE NOTE Radio Fodderstompf is currently UNAVAILABLE!

Until recently Radio Fodderstompf was ran completely FREE via live365.com. However, for whatever reason, they have now decided to make the station only available to 'Preferred Members' which will require a subscription. So unfortunately, at present it looks like the end Radio Fodderstompf. Which is sad but unavoidable...

In all honesty RF was badly neglected, neither myself or Karsten could give it the attention it needed. And this is where we need your help, we need someone to point us in the right direction of another free station, and who would be willing to run it for us, or perhaps oversee a MP3 download page linked to the site, whatever... We need ideas and options...
If you can help get in touch...

The PiL Gig List now contains links to various Solo Gig lists. Most of the dates were previously part of the Chronology, but to save clutter, they have been moved to the relevant lists. Like PiL, the Chronology will only mention the more important of the solo gigs...
At present some of the listings are pretty thin, however, over time we hope to make it as complete and accurate as the PiL list... Though at the same time we're not going to go mad! Only members, or bands, deemed relevant will be included. I don't think listing every gig Lou Bernardi ever played would interest anyone!!
