- John Lydon interview
Running Time:
5 minutes (approx)
Sound Quality:
(6.5) Low Quality Radio Recording
Tape Gradings Explained here
review by TIM BUCKNALL
Notes:
Possibly originally recorded from a tape recorder placed next to a radio
speaker.
Review:
Yet another key interview
in PiL's history, and sadly another one preserved in poor quality. This
one sounds like someone just placed a tape recorder next to the speaker
of their
radio. It's also sped up so it's the chipmunk Pistols all over again!
I can't quite understand what the female interviewer is saying, but this is another soul-baring interview from John; typical of this period. He discusses the reasons for the Pistols split, his plans for PiL's Christmas gigs at the Rainbow, and his feelings on the music industry. There are a few digs at Roxy Music for reasons which aren't too clear given the poor quality of the tape.
Hopefully, someone out there has a better copy of what seems to be a fascinating interview. If you do, please contact Fodderstompf…
