PIL:
BAD LIFE

(Virgin)

Temporary heroes: Linda Lewis for a few little things at the start of the 70s, Mr Lydon, singer with PiL, for a few little things at the end. Both records are horrible and stupid; Linda Lewis sounds like Larry the Lamb being Filleted. 'Class/style (I've got it) (not so you'd notice, dear) is one long empty boast while 'Bad Life' is one long exhausting bleat. It can't be fun knowing that the rest of your life is going to be one long morning after. There would seem to be no reason whatsoever for either of these records bar the fact that those responsible cannot face the prospect of starting a new career at this late stage. The sound of treading water.
